Please call NHS24 – 111
• This service is for emergencies
• It should not be used instead of a day time appointment
• Remember the Out of Hours Service is for urgent problems only. Please do not contact the service for a second opinion or for anything which can wait until the next working day.
Life Threatening Emergency Call -999
You should call 999 or go to A&E if you, or someone you know, experiences a life-threatening medical or mental health emergency. These are cases where there is immediate danger to life or physical injury. A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency. If you feel like you may be close to acting on suicidal thoughts or have seriously harmed yourself, you should call 999 or go to A&E directly if you need immediate help and are worried about your safety

Travel Vaccinations

The Travel Vaccination services will cease from Friday 2nd August 2019

8 Weeks’ Notice Required to process Travel Clinic Applications

Aberlour Medical Practice will try and accommodate our patients’ requirement for travel vaccinations – but this is entirely dependent on staff availability and the appropriate warning time given to the Practice.  Travel vaccinations fall outwith our contract to NHS Grampian and the service may be discontinued in the near future.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you may need to make an appointment with the practice nurse in order to discuss your travel arrangements.  This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting in order to determine which vaccination(s) are required.

If we cannot accommodate your requirements then you are advised to make alternative arrangements with GO health services

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

 Europe & Russia  North America
 Central America  South America
 Caribbean  Africa
 Middle East  Central Asia
 East Asia  Australasia and Pacific

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible – at least 8 weeks before you travel – as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse.   These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine and your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel in order to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Please complete the following form for your travel clinic application:

Travel Questionnaire

Please be advised that it can take up to 8 weeks for the travel vaccination process to be completed. Your application will be queued accordingly before being considered by the Travel Nurse who will make the necessary checks and advise you on the most appropriate vaccinations. There may be a cost incurred for each vaccination that you require. The information required in this form is required in order to help us better facilitate your travel needs and will be treated with the strictest confidence. This form can be completed online or at the practice
