Zero Tolerance

We are a zero tolerance practice, we request that you treat our staff and premises with respect.  We understand that at times you may be frustrated however we are doing our upmost to assist you.

Free Products

We have a supply of free and accessible period products and condoms which can be found at reception.  These are available to all patients.

Life Threatening Emergency Call - 999

You should call 999 or go to A&E if you, or someone you know, experiences a life-threatening medical or mental health emergency. These are cases where there is immediate danger to life or physical injury. A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency. If you feel like you may be close to acting on suicidal thoughts or have seriously harmed yourself, you should call 999 or go to A&E directly if you need immediate help and are worried about your safety

The Practice Manager is responsible for the day to day management of the Practice.  Supporting the Admin Team, GPs and other medical professionals to deliver patient services.

The reception/administrative staff have a very demanding role. They are there to assist you and we would ask you to be patient during peak times, when the staff have to handle a large volume of calls and enquiries. They will ask you a small amount of personal information about your medical condition – this information is used to ensure your call is dealt with by the correct Clinician and to assist fellow Healthcare Professionals who work within the Practice to manage your healthcare and well-being.  In addition they deal with important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions, dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims and patient records.

Practice Nurses are fully trained in a wide range of skills including, health promotion, contraception and management of long-term conditions e.g. advise on diet and lifestyle choices, coronary heart disease, hypertension, asthma, diabetes, smoking cessation and obesity.

The Nursing Team run various Nurse-led clinics for diabetes, asthma, coronary heart disease and COPD as well as providing general nursing services, dressings, removal of sutures and blood tests.

 

Community Treatment and Care Team (CTAC)

Works alongside the Practice Nurse providing many of the same services.

 

Healthcare assistants

Support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.

Physiotherapy

Andrea Robinson, First Contact Physiotherapist Lead, visits the practice once a week. She treats joint and muscle problems. The doctor can refer you to the physiotherapist directly or you can contact the practice to arrange an appointment directly.

Podiatry

Podiatry treatment is available to women over 60 and men over 65.  People with certain medical conditions, like diabetes, are also eligible. Community Nurses

A district nurse service is offered by the practice to carry out skilled nursing care for patients in their own homes and to teach and support those persons who are giving continuous basic care to the patient.

Orthoptist

All three-year-old children have their vision checked by the orthoptist. She checks for poor vision and squints.Appointments are sent out automatically from Dr Gray’s.

Dietician

A dietician visits regularly to give dietary advice for problems such as diabetes, high cholesterol or obesity. If required the doctors can refer you.
