When We Are Closed
When the Health Centre is closed (between 18:00 and 08:00 and at weekends) GMED and NHS24 provide emergency cover. If you have a medical problem which you feel cannot wait until the health centre re-opens, please telephone 01340 871210. You may be asked to attend the primary care emergency centre for treatment if the doctor considers this appropriate.
You can contact NHS24 on 111 or www.nhs24.com
Emergencies that should be admitted direct to hospital
- heart attacks presenting as severe tightness or pain across the chest, sweating and breathlessness
- collapse or other sudden illness
- overdose of tablets
- sudden severe bleeding
- accidents involving unconsciousness, possible fractures or blows to the head
Dial 999 and ask for the ambulance service
We recommend that patients living in rural areas keep a note of their postcode or six figure grid reference number to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service in finding their address urgently. It would also be helpful to give instructions on accessing more remote addresses.
